I found prize rebel while I was randomly surfing on youtube. I came across a video that showed a delivery truck stopping at some kids house and dropping off his free prize. The kid explained that he got the item by completing offers on prizerebel.comand had a link in the description of the video. Cool, I thought. So I decided to check out the site to see what it was all about.

I started by signing up at prizerebel.com and then began completing offers that were free to complete. What is an offer your say. An offer is one of those annoying adds, surveys or registration form that many sites use to promote their site or sell an item. Each offer filled out successfully will give you points that you can spend on various “prizes” that prize rebel offers. Unfortunately the free offers don’t give you many points so it can take a long time to rack up enough points to get any prizes. I have found that a lot of the free offers just don’t work. After you fill most of them out they don’t give you your hard earned points.

Fortunately there is another way to earn points. If you refer someone to the site then you gain a percentage of the points that they earn. You can see how this can become a pyramid scheme, but it can net you some serious points if you are able to refer enough people… hence the endless prize rebel youtube videos.

Of course there are other offers that you have to pay for that will give you points much quicker. These offers include purchasing cell phone ring tones, cell wallpaper, cell games etc. Once you fill out the offer you will get a text message on your phone with a code. You have to enter the code on prize rebel to complete the offer. I guess if you were going to get something like that any way it would be worth it, but otherwise it wouldn’t.

Don’t let your urge to get some free stuff get the better of you though. There are some illegal methods that some people use to obtain points. I saw a video of a kid telling how to scam people using the cell phone offers. He would enter someones number, weather he knew them or not, in to the offer. The victim would get the text message with the code. Since the kid needed the code to complete the offer, he would call or text them claiming that he knew them and would trick them into giving him the code.

Overall I think that prize rebel is a waste of time. I did it for about 4 days and finally got enough points to get a rechargeable battery pack for my x-box 360 controller, which costs about $10. I think that the only people who it benefits is the people that can get the pyramid scheme going or someone who can’t get a job, like a little kid that wants to extend his x-box live or world of warcraft subscription.
