Take a trip down Weeki Wachee Springs in Spring Hill Florida. My family usually goes at least a couple times every summer. We have a great experience each time we rent a canoe (and kayak) for this trip. The spring water feeding the small river is so clean and clear, you can see everything that is in the water from fish to manatees. The water is about 73 degrees Fahrenheit (23.5 Celsius) year round, which makes it a perfect place to go for a summer activity.

Grab a kayak or a canoe rental, which ever you are more comfortable with, and take a ride down the Weeki Wachee spring river. All you have to do is steer while the slow current gently carries you down the long winding river. It can be a relaxing trip. If you want to take a brake you can stop at one of the many banks on the sides of the river. You can cool off at any time by taking a swim when you feel the need to.

Don’t forget to bring your camera. There are many animals that you may want to take pictures of and if your lucky you will run into a manatee. The last time I went I saw one of these gentle creatures enjoying the fresh spring water.

If you want a little excitement then you can try one of the rope swings that are found tied to trees randomly throughout the river. Honestly this is one of my favorite things to do when I go to Weeki Wachee Springs. I love swinging through the air on one of the huge ropes and jumping into the water.

After you have completed your tour of Weeki Wachee Springs you will come to a place where you can exit the water. The employees will load up your canoe or kayak on their trailer and will give you a ride back to the parking lot. So if you’re in central Florida and are interested in a great canoe trip, check out Weeki Wachee springs it won’t disappoint.
