Since the smoking tax became active many smokers have resorted to limiting their nicotine intake to save a buck. In my eyes the smoking tax is a good thing. It will persuade a lot of people to quit smoking, especially if they have a tight financial situation where they must watch their spending. Fortunately though there is a solution for this “taxing” problem. A new breed of cigarettes have been spawned which is referred to as the electronic cigarette or the e-cigarette that changes the rules of smoking altogether.
This new cigarette has all of the benefits of smoking without any of the dangerous side effects. They don’t burn and they don’t use tobacco so there is no cancerous side effects. They use filters that can contain varying amounts of nicotine so you can still get the same effect of smoking a cigarette. If you are trying to quit you can adjust the amount of nicotine until you aren’t using any at all! A rechargeable battery is used to power it so you don’t have to spend extra money on batteries.
Lets compare the price of smoking a pack a day for one year. If one pack costs $5, a person who smokes a pack a day will spend $1800 a year. A person who smokes the equivalent nicotine using the e-cigarette will have an one time cost for the cigarette ($100) and $2 for refill cartridges. Each cartridge is equivalent to 20 cigarettes, so not including the cost for the cigarette they will spend about $720 per year. Of course these are estimates and don’t include taxes.
E-cigarettes look, taste and act as real cigarettes do. They are healthier and more cost effective. So if you are a smoker what is stopping you? It only makes sense to make the change. Who knows, maybe I’ll take up fake smoking with you.
