Have you ever wanted to talk without talking, or speak without speaking. Well now you can! I was looking around online for a program that will speak typed text and one of my friends mentioned that there was a program that could do it that was already on my computer.  So he showed me where it was and I have had hours (slight exaggeration) of fun making the computer say naughty things.

I was happy that the ability to do this came equipped with my computer. I have windows XP, I’m not sure if this trick will work with a different operating system. This is how to get to the program. Click the start button on your desk top. Go to control panel. Click the sounds, speech, and audio devices link. Click speech. Now you will have a small window open called speech properties, keep in mind that this window will not show up on the task bar.

To make your computer talk just type what you want it to say in the box under the text: use the following text to preview the voice. Once you have done that simply click preview voice, but make sure not to click ok or the window will close. Thats it! Now you can enjoy your new computer talking abilities. If you want you can download different voices, but personally I’m not tired of the voice it comes with.
