Socialism by definition is; any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. With more and more government control of troubled industries, socialism is getting more of a stronghold. In fact our problems with the economy started back in 1977 with Jimmy Carter.

The CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) was a well intentioned law signed in by Carter, that was intended to allow low income people to become homeowners. Sounds good on the surface, but more like socialism when you think of it in more depth. The law directed banks to provide sub-prime loans to low income borrowers that would normally not qualify. If the banks did not cooperate they may meet with resistance with plans to open new branches, hindering their growth.

While the CRA may not have caused the entire debacle. Ideas like this one, with goals of leveling the playing ground so that everyone has an equal share of the pie, are promoting the idea of socialism. Rather than some with more persistence, effort and will to succeed rising to the top; socialism inspires no one and only interests those who are looking for a free ride. Mediocrity is the end result for those who seek socialism and further down the line communism.
