I’ve been watching some YouTube videos of card magic tricks and was inspired to create a trick of my own. The trick is very simple to do and doesn’t require much skill to perform. Even though the trick is simple it has a very powerful effect as shown below. Here is how to do it. (If you haven’t seen the trick yet watch the video w/tutorial first.)

Effect:

I have four cards. I flip over one card to show that it is an ace and then put it on the bottom of the pack. I flip over the next card in the pack to show that it is also an ace. Then I give you the top ace card and the bottom ace and tell you to hold on to them tightly so that I cant take them. I take the 2 remaining cards and slide them over the cards you are holding and you turn over your cards to see that they are deuces.

How to do it:

1. Get two black cards, such as the ace of clubs and the ace of spades, and two red cards, such as the 2 of diamonds and the 2 of hearts. You will want to put the 2s in between the aces in this order, ace,2,2,ace.

2. You will hold the cards face down on top of each other and flip over the ace on top. While showing the ace you will simultaneously slide the top card on the pack down. You will put the ace, face down, back on top of the pack and then grab it along with the card you slid back and put them both on the bottom of the deck. Your set up will now look like this:2, ace, ace, 2.

3. Now you will do a double lift to show that the top card on the deck is an ace and flip it back over. If you are not sure what a double lift it is: when you pick up the top two cards on a deck while making it look like you are only picking up one.

4. This is the easy part. Put the top card in your victim’s hand and tell them to hold on to it tightly. Say “I will give you the top card which is an” (let them answer) “Ace”, but really it is a 2. Next place the bottom card in their other hand and say “I will give you the bottom card which is an” (let them answer again) “Ace”, and it is really the other 2. Now you have 2 aces and they have 2 deuces.

5. Now take the aces you have and pretend to switch them out with the cards they are holding. Then tell them to turn over the cards and just like magic they now have deuces instead of aces.
